Hello Friday,
Apologies for the absence on Tuesday, but…
Some Personal News: A still nameless baby boy was born into my more immediate family on Wednesday. Mother and son are doing great. I am FINE.
ATTN You: This means there will be no Family Meal for a couple of weeks. Paying subscribers, I hope you’ll bear with me, but if you need to press pause or get some money back, very happy to oblige. Just drop a note.
The Gift Guide - Before we left for the hospital, I tried to get together a quick list of all the places I read for this newsletter. It’s my very little way of giving back to all the journalists we read, love, hate, and hate to love. Each link or phone number below should take you where you need to go to buy a gift subscription for someone special this holiday season. Journalism makes a great gift! Buy in!
Obviously, I use a lot of sources that still rock the free model, so if you want to pat those folks on the back directly, share their articles (and newsletters), give their podcasts five stars, and just straight up write them an email telling them you like their work. You’d be amazed how many of them care. HINT HINT.
And that’s it for today. I’m off to figure out a name for this kid. The Hong Kong government, in all its infinite wisdom, has given us six weeks to name him. Six weeks! Good God, HK, we’re procrastinators! May as well just name him Ohshitisitmidjanuaryalready.
OK. Here’s your gift guide. Have a great next few weeks without me!
Much love from Hong Kong,
Andrew
